Dion McCaffrie is Andersons' Chief Operating Officer, and heads up the Civil Law team. He has been working at Andersons for over 40 years. Dion was admitted to practice in 1975 and joined Andersons, originally in our Port Adelaide office, in 1976. Dion served from 1994 to 2007 as the firm’s Managing Partner. The drive to solve problems is what directed him to a legal career.
In June 2019, Dion retired from practicing law and took on the role of Chief Operating Officer. He works on a part-time basis, continuing to run the Civil Law department and managing the firm’s operations.
While he was practicing law, Dion’s area of specialty was personal injury litigation and in particular, motor vehicle and public liability claims.
Finding a satisfying and sustainable work/life balance is important to Dion and this is a key message he seeks to impart to new lawyers joining the firm. It is vital that lawyers, apart from being on top of their professional skills, are closely in touch with the values and concerns of the people they represent.
Dion is passionate about football and sport. He was President of West Adelaide Football Club from 1993-2004 and, since 2004, has been a SANFL Football Commissioner. He is also a member of the Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority overseeing the redevelopment of Adelaide Oval – often referred to as the best oval in the world!
