Clerkship and PLT Program
Transitioning from university to the legal profession is an exciting and daunting time in any law students' life. We provide a range of opportunities for law students and recent graduates to obtain legal experience and practical training within our firm to facilitate this transition.
Joining the Andersons Clerkship Program is an invaluable opportunity for you to explore a range of practice areas at our full-service law firm.
As a clerk, you will rotate through our Commercial, Personal Injury and Family Law teams being led by, and gaining hands-on experience from a range of practitioners at various levels.
You will work alongside our supportive team, gaining experience and exposure on real client matters. Your day-to-day will include opportunities to attend meetings with clients, observe court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution, undertake legal research, and draft correspondence and a range of legal documents.
Our Clerkships operate over a consecutive six-week period for penultimate or final year law students only. The program runs all year, and dates suitable to applicants can be negotiated with our Recruitment Team on submission of a successful application.
Clerks will be required to attend on our offices a minimum of three days per week.
Practical Legal Training (PLT)
Andersons Solicitors offer a number of PLT placements each year with graduates given the opportunity to negotiate the length of their placement depending on their training providers' requirements.
We pride ourselves on providing a hands-on, professional and collaborative environment that allows you to put your legal knowledge into practice, explore your career direction, and receive guidance, feedback, and training from our experienced and dedicated team.
You will have the support of a senior solicitor who will oversee your placement with us, as well as the opportunity to work with practitioners from Solicitor to Partner level. You will work closely with our junior solicitors who are approachable and personable, and, most importantly, remember what it was like to be in your position.
Recent graduates are encouraged to apply during our application period.
To submit an application for either program, complete the application form below and upload the required documents in a PDF format.
Please address your cover letter to 'Recruitment Team', ensuring it is clear and concise, highlighting your skill set, interests, experience, and what you can bring to our growing team.
Successful applicants will be invited to attend a face-to-face interview with our Recruitment Team. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified via email.
Applications received outside of the application period or via any method other than the form below will not be considered.

"Clerking has given me the opportunity to put my knowledge into practice in real-life scenarios. Working as a Clerk has provided the practical framework that a lecture theatre could never quite demonstrate. The support and guidance from the team has been a priceless experience in gaining real-life knowledge of the reality of work as a lawyer.
With exposure to a number of areas of law, my experience as a Clerk has also been a valuable tool in deciding which pathway to take my career and which area of law I am interested in practising."
– Catherine Kanellos, 2021 Law Clerk
“I commenced at Andersons Solicitors on a short placement (PLT) whilst still completing my studies and moved to a clerk position after that before being admitted to practice. Being a clerk prior to practice and having exposure to the day-to-day activities of a practitioner is uniquely valuable and something which is not, and cannot, be taught in a lecture theatre.
On a more practical note, I always felt that the environment at Andersons is both positive and supportive and allows clerks to interact with practitioners at all levels and their contributions being valued by the firm.”
– Antony Boonen, 2019 Law Clerk
“Clerking at Andersons has been an invaluable opportunity to develop practical legal skills in a friendly and nurturing environment. Working across the firm’s various practice areas has given me an insight into how each area operates in practice, and allowed me to learn from the firm’s wide array of knowledgeable professionals.
Every day as a clerk comes with new challenges and experiences, and working alongside the supportive team at Andersons has been the perfect environment to develop important skills for practice.”
– Kira Millikan, 2021 Law Clerk
