Robert Paul Anderson

4 February 1937 - 11 June 2008

Paul Anderson was a co founder of Andersons Solicitors which had its beginnings at Port Adelaide

He completed Leaving Honours in 1953 and in 1954 he commenced a Pharmacy Degree at the Adelaide University.

On Sunday 26th May 1956 he was involved in a motor vehicle accident which left him a quadriplegic and which obviously changed his life forever. At that time he decided it would be impracticable for him to become a Pharmacist and considered Law an appropriate option. After 18 months of hospitalisation and rehabilitation he began a Law Degree course at the Adelaide University. He graduated in 1962.

In 1964 he took up a position at Norman Mutton & Stokes at Port Adelaide and upon Bob Stokes appointment as a Magistrate, Paul took over the practice.

His first Articled Clerk was Terry Evans then followed by Greg Holland and Dion McCaffrie and eventually the firm became known as Anderson, Evans & Co. On Terry Evan's retirement from the firm the firm changed its name to Anderson Holland McCaffrie and subsequently upon Greg Holland's move to the Bar, Paul, Dion and Garry Palasis, the then partners of that firm, agreed to change the name of the firm to Andersons Solicitors. It has maintained that name since the mid 1980's.

In 1976 the Partners set up an Adelaide office and that quickly grew and Paul based himself in the City Office from 1978.

On the 5th January 2008 Paul was involved in a motor vehicle accident, which led to a long and difficult period of hospitalisation.

During this period of some 5 months, Paul's courage and determination was never more apparent. Unfortunately, complications occurred in late May 2008 and despite a great fight Paul passed away on 11th June 2008.

Paul was a strong supporter of The University of South Australia Law School and Andersons Solicitors became the inaugural sponsor of the Andersons Prize in Torts. Since his death his family, friends, and colleagues have provided initial funding to Uni SA to establish the Paul Anderson Scholarship.

Paul was also a strong supporter of The Paraplegic and Quadraplegic Association of SA and of the Neil Sachse Foundation a spinal injury support group founded by Neil.

At the time of his death Paul was a member of the Law Society and a member of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal.

He was an outstanding human being and a driving force within Andersons Solicitors, and left life long impressions on colleagues, clients and staff alike.
